Flett from Flotta

William Arnot "Jock" Flett was a piper with the Seaforth Highlanders for 22 years under P/M Donald MacLeod. The two men composed the tune on a long train journey to London while guarding the regimental silver.

He was born on the Orkney Island of Flotta in 1910 and died in New South Wales in 1998, when his pipes were returned to his family in Orkney. Flett fought in North Africa during WWII one of the 5 out of 20 Seaforth pipers who survived the war.
